Kristoff St. John died of heart disease and his death was triggered by an alcohol binge, the L.A. coroner’s office has reported.

The official cause of death has been revealed as hypertrophic heart disease and has been categorized as an accident, TMZ revealed on Tuesday.

Cause of death: The Young And The Restless star Kristoff St. John suffered from heart disease and had been heavily drinking leading to his death

Hypertrophic heart disease is where the heart muscle thickens making it harder for the heart to pump blood.

It often goes undiagnosed due to there commonly being no symptoms.

It’s been labeled ‘accidental’ because the actor was apparently on an alcohol binge at the time of his death.
