The maximum temperature recorded in the city rose to 36.1 degrees Celsius on March 12, getting close to the earlier highest recorded max for March, 37.4 degrees Celsius on March 2. The city buzzed with a reaction to the spike in temperature with juice sellers and water-pot vendors out in force.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) because of a western disturbance system, northerly winds have resumed movement towards the state and this is responsible for the warmer day temperature.
Anupam Kashyapi, head of weather, IMD Pune said,“One western disturbance (WD) is approaching and another is developing, which is the major reason for the disturbance of the northerly winds.This pattern will continue for the next two to three days and later there is possibility of a drop in temperature.”
On Wednesday, March 13, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius. Brahmpuri recorded a maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius, the highest in the state on Wednesday.
IMD has also forecast light rainfall over Marathwada and Vidarbha on March 16.
