Cong. leaders’ poser to Sabitha

‘Is enjoying power for 10 years as Minister a humiliation?’

Ranga Reddy district Congress leaders have questioned Maheshwaram MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy to explain how she felt humiliated in the party after serving as Minister for 10 consecutive years.

Alleging that her decision to defect to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) was more humiliating to the Congress workers, they said the cadre will now work more vigorously to ensure the win of Koda Vishweshwer Reddy, who is likely to get Chevella Parliament ticket. They also condemned her statement that she was joining TRS only to realise the dreams of her late husband Indra Reddy. “If that was the case she should have joined when TRS was launched,” they said at a press conference here.

DCC president Narsimha Reddy said Ms. Sabitha’s exit will no way impact the prospects of Mr. Vishweshwer Reddy, who will be the Union Minister with the Congress all set to form the government at the Centre.

Former Parigi MLA said that erstwhile Ranga Reddy district lost out with Vikarabad extended to Jogulamba and Mahabubnagar districts. Mr. Reddy said the district people are not willing to accept a non-local leader — referring to Ranjit Reddy, whom the TRS is reportedly fielding.

Tandur MLA Rohith Reddy alleged that the ruling party is luring the MLAs by threatening them but the cadre are not afraid and would fight back.

Sabita’s defection has galvanised the cadre and challenged that the cadre would see how Mr. Ranjit Reddy would be elected if at all the TRS fields him.

Former MLAs K. Lakshma Reddy and Gaddam Prasad Kumar also spoke.
