BJP’s separate manifesto for women seeks to sensitise men in Madhya Pradesh

The manifestos were released by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan exactly a week after the Congress released its Vachan Patra. The state goes to poll on November 28.

The BJP on Saturday released its manifesto for Madhya Pradesh assembly elections promising a mechanism to ensure fair probe of cases under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, bonus for farmers who didn’t sell their produce in mandis, a two-wheeler for girls who score 75 per cent in Class XII and singing of Madhya Pradesh song after the national anthem in government schools among other things.

Apart from the main document called Vision Document for Prosperous Madhya Pradesh, the ruling party also released a small, separate manifesto for women with a promise to start a sensitisation programme for men to change their mentality towards women so as to create an atmosphere of safety and dignity for women.

The manifestos were released by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan exactly a week after the Congress released its Vachan Patra. The state goes to poll on November 28.

Under the scheme called Laghu Kisan Swawlamban Yojana, small farmers who don’t produce enough to sell at mandis will get a bonus in proportion to their land holding and the likely yield.

Unlike the Opposition party, the BJP has not mentioned Ram Van Gaman Path but has promised to develop the Narmada Parikrama (circumambulation) route. It has also promised more gaushalas and a cow sanctuary in every division.

The BJP manifesto promises to provide free education from Class I to doctorate to economically backward students of the general categories.
