David Beckham has hit back after fans criticised him for kissing his kids on the lips.
The proud father of four is often seen planting a smacker on his kids' lips, including his 11 year old daughter, Harper, and he's not shy about showing his affections for his children.
The former footballer is dad to Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 20, Cruz, 18, and Harper, 11, who he shares with his wife of 24 years, Victoria Beckham.
He's often faced criticism for kissing Harper on the lips, such as one photo, posted online, which saw them pecking whilst out on a winter walk.
“Daddy & Princess Leia had a lovely walk this morning #HarperSeven,” David captioned the pictures.
But some fans weren't impressed as they commented on the post.
"She is a big girl now time for you to stop kissing her on the lips… Bad to kiss your daughter,” one follower wrote.
"Stop with the kissing pics! It's well weird," another complained.
But David doesn't care for the criticism, as he explained his reasoning for kissing his children as he said on a Facebook Live that he and Victoria "want to show our kids love".
"I kiss all my kids on the lips," he said, before doubling back and saying "maybe not Brooklyn" – his eldest son – as he "might find that a bit strange".
"But I'm very affectionate with the kids. It's how I was brought up and Victoria, and it's how we are with our children," said David.
The father-of-four finished: "We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them, and support them, and you know, we're very affectionate with them."
David and his only daughter Harper share a sweet bond, and she's often been captured in numerous photos uploaded by David of them sharing a sweet kiss, with one taken in 2018 while ice skating in London, in 2020 as they searched for vegetables and most recently, in a video posted New Year’s Day.
Clearly very loved, Harper is also very affectionate and even left a handwritten note for her parents after they went for a dinner date.
Victoria shared the note on Instagram. It read: “Dear mummy and daddy, I love you sooo much night night, sleep well love you.
"I hope you had a nice dinner. Love you with all my heart. Love Harper.”
