Former Strictly Come Dancing star Debbie McGee took to Twitter last night to share her thoughts on this year’s competition. The 62-year-old, who made it to the final with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice in 2017 and won the Christmas special with Kevin Clifton last year, discussed the song choices in the 2020 series.

Last night, ex Strictly pro Robin Windsor, who was on the show from 2010 to 2013, spoke online about what he thinks can “make or break” a performance on the show.

“Music choices can really make or break a dance for me,” he wrote on Twitter in view of his 125,200 followers.

“Ain’t that the truth. Some shockers,” added Arlene Phillips, who was a judge on the programme until 2008.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, Debbie waded in on the discussion and agreed: “Me too.”

Viewers at home also took to the comments section of Robin’s post to share their thoughts on the matter.

“Tonight is not a good night for matching music to the dance, it really doesn’t help. It’s such a shame,” one BBC viewers wrote online.

“I agree! The music choices for the samba and the Argentine tango were beyond odd,” another added.

“I wish they’d use more traditional music, especially for the Latin dances. Some weeks, the choices are bizarre! Jason’s Star Wars music for his Paso was disgusting! He didn’t stand a chance!” a third frustrated fan added.

Last night Ranvir Singh and Giovanni danced the first Argentine Tango of the series to When Doves Cry by Prince, while Clara Amfo and Aljaz Skorjanec performed an energetic samba to That’s The Way (I Like It) by KC And The Sunshine Band.

Ranvir’s dance appeared to be a hit with the judges who awarded her an impressive 27 points.

However, Clara, who was at the top of the leaderboard last week, only scored 18 points – 11 less than the previous week.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One tonight at 7.25pm for the results show.
