Harry Potter and Star Wars actor Paul Grant dies aged 56 as devastated family pay tribute

Paul Grant has died at the age of 56, his family has confirmed.

The actor, who famously played an Ewok in the Star Wars film Return of the Jedi alongside Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, had been found collapsed outside King's Cross Station in London on Thursday afternoon.

The father of three, who also had a turn as a goblin in the Harry Potter film series, was pronounced brain dead after being rushed to hospital.

His family has since confirmed that his life support machine was switched off on Sunday 19 March.

His daughter Sophia Jayne Grant, 28, paid tribute to her father, saying she was "devastated" by the news.

Speaking to The Sun, she said: "He always brought a smile and laughter to everyone's face.

She added: "My dad I love you so much sleep tight".

She spoke about how much he loved her, her sisters, and his girlfriend, Maria Dwyer, 64.

Maria herself paid tribute to her partner: "Paul was the love of my life. The funniest man I know. He made my life complete.

"Life is never going to be the same without him."

The actor was 4ft 4in, and dubbed himself the "king of the Dwarfs".

Along with his role as an unnamed Ewok in Star Wars, he also starred in iconic films Labyrinth, alongside David Bowie, Legend with Tom Cruise, and even Willow alongside fellow Harry Potter alum Warwick Davis.

In 2014, the actor opened up about blowing all his money on alcohol, drugs and prostitutes, and that his life spiralled out of control following his split from his then-wife.

Speaking to The Sunday Mirror, he admitted that he'd cheated on her on numerous occasions and blamed himself for their marriage ending.

He told them: "I need help. I've been on cocaine and it has just got worse. I'm drinking and smoking what I can get."

He added: "I had a family, I was married, now I'm divorced. I've lost everything. I've not got anything, my things, pictures, clothes are all over the place.

"I don't know what I want at the moment. I had money, I blew it all, I spent it on drugs and prostitutes."

Since his death on Sunday, his stepdaughter, Stacey, has set up a fundraising page for Paul's funeral, writing: "I'm starting this page as Paul sadly passed away yesterday and I would like to give him the best send off he would want."
