Holly Willoughby’s new This Morning co-presenter revealed as ‘dream team’ reunite

As Holly Willoughby prepares to return to our screens next month after an extended Summer break, fans at home have been excitedly awaiting the news about which co-host would be joining her on the This Morning sofa.

It has now been revealed that during Holly’s return to the show on Monday September 4, she will be joined by close pal Alison Hammond, who has been holding down the fort with Josie Gibson and Dermot O’Leary while Holly enjoyed her time off.

The duo, who previously presented alongside each other on a number of occasions in the past, have often been applauded for their laid back presenting style and on air chemistry, with the news no doubt pleasing many fans about the return.

According to the MailOnline, Holly specifically requested to be paired with Alison for her return, after a source revealed that they were considered to be the “dream team” to keep the show afloat.

The source told the publication: "To ITV bosses, Holly and Alison are the dream team and it also what Holly wanted and that is very important to those high up because they don't want to lose her.

"It shows how much Holly means business when it comes to saving This Morning from the trauma it has endured since the whole Schofield scandal. She is determined to keep things going.

"They have this natural chemistry, they are friends and it something that the bosses hope the viewers will enjoy.”

As well as applauding their onscreen chemistry, the source even claimed that Holly would like the partnership to become a “permanent” fixture, but did admit that with Alison’s busy schedule (which includes presenting The Great British Bake Off) it may be “impossible” for her to commit to a regular team up.

OK! have reached out to Holly and ITV for comment.

Holly is expected to return to the show for two days with Alison, before continuing to front This Morning alongside Irishman Craig Doyle until Alison returns to host as usual, alongside Dermot O’Leary on Friday.

The presenting shake-up comes in the wake of Phillip Schofield’s departure from the show earlier this year, after he admitted to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a much younger colleague.

Since his departure, Phil has largely kept a low profile, but was spotted for the first time in months this wee as he enjoyed a catch up with This Morning agony aunt and Talk TV presenter Vanessa Feltz.
