Ioan Gruffudd was still wearing his wedding ring as he returned to the Los Angeles home he shares with his estranged wife.
The Fantastic Four star has separated from Alice Evans after 13 years of marriage and 21 years as a couple, with Evans, 49, breaking the news in social media statements.
While the exes are discussing legal separation, Gruffudd, 47, was still wearing his silver wedding ring while out and about in LA this week.
The actor arrived at his house carrying what appeared to be lighting equipment, and was dressed in dark trousers, a T-shirt, brown boots and sunglasses.
Gruffudd was spotted just hours after his estranged wife took to Instagram to comment on their split.
Posting a selfie with Gruffudd, 102 Dalmatians star Evans said she started reading internet comments after a few glasses of wine.
The actress wrote: ‘Thank you for your kind comments. As for the unkind ones, I get it. It must be weird to comprehend why somebody would share their pain on social media rather than with their nearest and dearest.
‘I get that. You must think I’m an a**hole. I’m not though. I don’t have a mum, or a dad. I don’t have any close friends in LA. I’ve looked after my kids for half their lives alone.
‘My husband knows that. We are indeed discussing legal separation, but we are still friends. You can say what you want about me being an attention seeker but you know it’s not true.’
Evans met Gruffudd on the set of the 2000 film 102 Dalmatians, when she was engaged to Olivier Picasso, the great-grandson of Pablo Picasso.
However, she split from Picasso and began dating her co-star, and in 2007, they tied the knot in Mexico after she gave her partner an ‘ultimatum’ over his ‘procrastinating’.
The pair went on to have two daughters together, Ella Betsi, 11, and seven-year-old Elsie Marigold, through IVF.
Last month, Evans admitted she was blindsided by her husband walking out on her, announcing Gruffudd had left her in now-deleted tweets.
She wrote: ‘Sad news. My beloved husband/soulmate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced he is to leave his family, starting next week.
‘Me and our young daughters girls are very confused and sad [sic]. We haven’t been given a reason except that he ‘no longer loves me.’ I’m so sorry.
Evans later claimed that her husband had been the one to delete her tweet, and that she was being gaslighted.
A rep for Gruffudd then confirmed their split, and said that both parents remain committed to their children.
Evans has since called the separation ‘excruciating’, writing on social media: ‘I never thought this would happen to us. I am still fighting against it, because I love our kids, and I still love him, but something has happened inside his head and whatever it is, I don’t see him coming back to us.
‘The pain is excruciating but I am stronger than an ox, and though I weep all day when my kids aren’t looking, at night I add up figures and plan futures for us and you know what? I will do those two angels right if it’s all I ever do.’
While the family resides in Los Angeles, Gruffudd has spent time away from home over the last few years, filming Liar in the UK and the drama Harrow in Australia.
The Welsh star told the Guardian last year: ‘I think we’ve struggled the past four years, making time for each other because physically we’re apart,’ but added: ‘We’re very practical about the whole thing.’
