Melanie Sykes, 52 has opened up about her famous five-year romance with Bros and Strictly Come Dancing star Matt Goss as she recalled the devastating moment when she found out his infidelity.
The presenter dated the popstar from 1992 to 1997 – until the relationship broke down due to his unfaithful escapades.
Melanie detailed her very public love life and heartache in her new autobiography illuminated: Autism & All Things I’ve Left Unsaid.
She went to the bathroom and threw up in that moment, ahead of “calling time” on her relationship with Matt, 54.
In excerpts obtained by the MailOnline, Melanie wrote: “I was dumbstruck, devastated and totally overwhelmed.”
The pair met on a blind date and dated for five years, after splitting in 1997. Despite the infidelity, they kept things very amicable after splitting.
Melanie recalled wanting to be “free and spontaneous”, while her other half was focused on his career.
She said: “I wanted to laugh and have spontaneous sex and be free, but our lives were not like that. Matt was focused on his career, and I just wanted to have a fun-loving relationship.”

Although things come to a harrowing end when she found out about Matt’s unfaithful behaviour.
In her new book, she shared that after noticing a different number on his phone bill and her suspicions grew – which resulted in her coming face-to-face with a woman who claimed to be Matt’s girlfriend.
She described herself as feeling “devastated” at the time and penned: “I had been so worried about him being jealous of me, I couldn’t believe for all these years he had been, it seemed, prolifically unfaithful.
“I went to the bathroom and threw up.”
It was said Matt asked for Melanie’s had in marriage to redeem forgiveness – but the gesture not being enough to repair the damage.
Despite the heartache, the pair have remained close – with Matt claiming Melanie was his “first true love” when addressing the crowd whilst performing in 2017.
He said: “It didn’t work out. We both moved on and found other loves – been in and out of love. But we’ve remained best friends.
“So this is for you…”
