Milo Ventimiglia Is Happy That Jess and Rory Didn't End Up Together on 'Gilmore Girls'

Few things can ignite the Gilmore Girls fandom into a fiery rage like a debate about Rory Gilmore’s love life. Over the course of the show, Rory had three major love interests—Dean, Jess, and Logan—and fans have strong and often deeply divided opinions about which (if any) of these men should have been Rory’s end game.

Before he grew out his impressive Jack Pearson mustache for This Is Us, Milo Ventimiglia played bad boy bookworm Jess on Gilmore Girls. Jess and Rory split shortly before they graduated from high school and, at the risk of devastating/alienating Jess/Rory shippers everywhere, Milo revealed that he, for one, is happy about how the characters’ story played out.

During an appearance on his former Gilmore Girls co-star, Scott Patterson’s, podcast, I’m All In (per ET Online), Milo reflected on/praised Jess and Rory’s romance (including its ending), saying:

If learning that Milo is not actively shipping a happy ending for Rory and Jess cuts deep, maybe you can take a little solace in the fact that the actor said he would be down to reprise the role again if there’s ever another Gilmore Girls revival in the future (he appeared briefly in Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life in 2016).

“I can’t ever get away from it,” he said when Scott (who played Luke Danes on the series) asked if he would be open to playing Jess again if the opportunity arose. “For me, knowing that you and Lauren [Graham] and Alexis and probably just about everybody else in the show would show up and on top of it, it’d probably be Dan [Palladino] and Amy [Sherman-Palladino] there writing their a**es off, it’s like, yeah why wouldn’t I? It would feel like it was there for the right reason versus the wrong reason.”

Manifesting this so hard. ^^^
