Phillip Schofield hires ‘lawyer’ amid Holly Willoughby ‘fallout to protect reputation’

Phillip Schofield has hired a lawyer to help him amid his rumoured fallout with This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby, according to reports.

While the pair are hosting the hit ITV daytime show together on Monday morning, it is claimed Phillip, 61, and 42-year-old Holly no longer speak off camera.

Phillip is said to have been left "blindsided" by how public their row has become, while Holly is believed to be equally as miffed by her co-host's public statement about them last week.

And now it seems Phillip – who also presents Dancing On Ice with Holly – has enlisted legal help as Holly has reportedly started "contract negotiations."

A source told The Sun: "Phil has instructed a lawyer to help keep his reputation intact. They are overseeing stories relating to ITV and his role on This Morning and are ensuring Phil is protected.

"Phil has done absolutely nothing wrong and doesn’t have a PR team guiding him.

"He and ITV felt he needed someone, officially, in his corner to ward off stuff that isn’t true. Phil doesn’t want this to get beyond his control."

OK! has contacted representatives for Phillip and ITV for comment on this story.

Both Phillip and Holly are putting their loyal viewers first despite their reported differences, with them both confirmed to be hosting Monday's This Morning.

The source continued to tell the publication: "Holly and Phil are professionals and they can turn it on like no one else.

"Although behind the scenes their relationship is nothing like it was, they are both dedicated to This Morning and keeping it together for viewers."

It was reported over the weekend that it may not just be This Morning that suffers a shake-up if the pair are not able to put their differences aside, with Stephen Mulhern "lined up" to replace Phillip on Dancing On Ice.

The In For A Penny host was met with rave reviews last year as he joined Holly in presenting an episode of Dancing On Ice, after Phillip tested positive for Covid-19.

A separate source told The Sun: "Stephen is a perfect fit and gets on brilliantly with Holly.

"He’s long been regarded as the right man to take over and was sounded out by executives at the end of last year. He told friends he’d jump at the chance."

This Morning continues weekdays at 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
