Twenty-four teams of Legal Metrology Department inspected 200 fair price shops and registered 16 cases, out of which nine were for short delivery and the remaining seven for violating Legal Metrology Act and Rules, across Krishna district on Monday.
Legal Metrology controller E. Damodar said in a press release that the raids were conducted to check whether the ration shop dealers were delivering rice in correct quantities to the cardholders under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
Weighing machines used at the shops were also checked at Ibrahimpatnam and Vijayawada Rural.
The highest short delivery of 1.020 kg in a 15 kg rice bag was noticed at an FP shop in Kankipadu.
