A municipal report on vector-borne disease, released on Monday, stated that the number of malaria cases this year stands at 88, dengue at 49 and chikungunya at 35.
One new case of chikungunya, 13 new cases of malaria, 6 new cases of dengue were reported in the last week.The situation so far has been, however, better than the last year. In July 2017, 94 cases of malaria, 131 cases of dengue and 42 cases of chikungunya were reported.
The corporation’s data shows that the number of cases of vector-borne diseases tends to rise in August, September and October.
Meanwhile, the civic bodies have been attempting to address the annual issue through awareness campaigns and spraying of anti-larval spray.
