Five alleged robbers have been arrested and seven cases were solved after a constable caught one of them on July 9 in south Delhi’s Saket, the police said on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Romil Baaniya said that on July 9, Head Constable Manoj was on his way to Sarojini Nagar police station around 6 a.m., when he saw a few men on two-wheelers trying to rob a pedestrian of his mobile phone and wallet.
“He intervened and managed to apprehend one of them, while they were trying to flee. A motorcycle of accused was left behind,” he said.
The apprehended accused was a minor. During interrogation, he revealed names of his accomplices. Based on the information, Karanbeer alias Ashish, Nitesh, Chirag, Sourabh and Ankit were arrested.
“They are friends and drug addicts. They roam in groups to intimidate and target people,” Mr. Baaniya said. Seven mobile phones, a wallet, and three vehicles have been recovered from the possession of the arrested accused.
