Awareness rally to fight human trafficking

In an attempt to spread awareness on various aspects of human trafficking, the district police took out a massive rally from the Raj Vihar Circle to Konda Reddy Buruju, here on Monday. More than 3000 women and youngsters participated in the programme organised, marking the ‘World Day against trafficking in persons’.

The rally was flagged off by Superintendent of Police (Admin) P. Shaik Shavali. Carrying banners and placards highlighting the human trafficking issues, the participants raised slogans against the menace.

They also formed a human chain at Konda Reddy Buruju.

Dubious distinction

“Kurnool district stands second, after Anantapur in the number of human trafficking cases. However, interventions by the police via SHE teams, awareness programmes at schools and colleges have enabled in bringing down the number of incidents,” Mr. Shavali said.
