Bail conditions relaxed for advocate

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Tuesday allowed advocate Vanchinathan to travel outside Madurai only for professional duty. However, the court restrained him from travelling to Thoothukudi.

Justice G.R. Swaminathan modified his earlier order on the conditions imposed on Vanchinathan while granting him bail. The court had earlier directed him to stay in Madurai till the pendancy of the suit. Vanchinathan, in his plea seeking modification of the order, said that being a practising advocate before the High Court Bench, he also appeared before the district courts, Principal Seat of the High Court and the Supreme Court.

He sought permission to appear before the Supreme Court where he had filed a case on the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University.

He also sought permission to appear before the Aruna Jagadeesan Inquiry Commission, as he was one of the witnesses to the Thoothukudi firing incident.
