BJP-ruled States given ample funds: Isaac

Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac has said that the inadequate allocation of funds for the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan was indicative of the demonic attitude of the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He alleged political bias behind the alleged discriminated meted out to the State.

In a FB post, Dr. Isaac said the State had proposed an outlay of Rs. 1941.10 crore with 38 projects including distribution of textbooks and free uniforms, training girls in martial arts, vocational and teacher training. However, the Centre has ignored the State’s proposals and has sanctioned funds that are grossly inadequate. However, other States, particularly the BJP-ruled ones, have been allocated funds close to their indicative budgets. Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have been allocated Rs. 4,773.10 crore, Rs. 2,717. 18 crore and Rs. 2,406.60 crore respectively.
