Union Minister of State for Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ramesh Chandrappa Jiga Jinagi, said Mission Bhagiratha is an excellent programme that can be replicated across the nation.
The Minister visited the head work of Mission Bagiratha at Borpatla and intra-village work at Ramchandrapuram in Narsapur mandal of Medak district and Busraeddypally head work and Singur reservoir on Tuesday. He interacted with officials and asked them about the progress of works. He was accompanied by MLA Madan Reddy at Narsapur.
Later, interacting with media persons at Singur, Mr. Jiga Jinagi said Mission Bhagiratha is on the lines of a proposed Union Government scheme ‘‘Har ghar nal ka jal (tap connection for each house)’. He said that the Centre had already held a meeting in this regard and it is estimated that about Rs. 5 lakh crore will be required to implement the scheme across the nation.
Not committing to give any assurance about financial assistance to Mission Bhagiratha, the Minister promised to take the details of the scheme to the notice of Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharati.
