Christ (Deemed to be University) turns 50

The golden jubilee of Christ (Deemed to be University) will be held on July 14 and on July 21.

Anil Joseph Pinto, Registrar of Christ (Deemed to be University), said the college, which was started in 1969 with 315 students and 18 faculty members, has over 21,000 students managed by as many as 915 faculty members, making Christ one of the largest institutions in the country, especially in the liberal arts department. He said the golden jubilee celebration will be held in the main auditorium of the Christ (Deemed to be University) campus on Hosur Road.

The inaugural address will be delivered by Vice Chancellor Dr. Fr. Thomas C. Mathew. Noble laureate Kailash Satyarthi will deliver the golden jubilee address. Among other guests who are expected to participate in the event are the scion of the erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadutta Chamaraja Wadiyar; Dr. Sudha Murthy, chairperson, Infosys Foundation in India and trustee of Infosys Foundation, USA; MLA and former Minister Ramalinga Reddy.
