‘Cong. will table no-trust motion on SCS’

AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Oommen Chandy on Monday said the Congress would table a no-confidence motion in the ensuing session of Parliament on the inordinate delay in according Special Category Status (SCS) to the State though it had been promised at the time of bifurcation.

Addressing the media here, Mr. Chandy said the Congress would accord SCS if it was voted to power in the 2019 elections.

Stating that the people were fed up with the NDA government and keen on voting the Congress back to power, Mr. Chandy hoped the party would regain its past glory in Andhra Pradesh too.

Stating that he was ascertaining the views of the leaders and cadre across the State, Mr. Chandry said the party would contest all the 175 Assembly seats on its own.

Door-to-door campaign

“We are going to constitute 44,000 booth-level committees. A door-to-door campaign will be undertaken from October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti). It will conclude on November 19, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi,” he said.

Earlier, he conducted a review meeting with leaders of all the 10 Assembly constituencies in the district.
