Principal Secretary (family welfare) Shanti Kumari has expressed concern over the declining institutional deliveries in the government hospitals of Mahabubabad, Peddapalli and Badadri-Kothgudem districts.
Participating in a review meeting on the medical and health departments of the three districts at NTPC millennium hall in Peddapalli district on Thursday, she said the patients were approaching private hospitals for deliveries in spite of the government launching KCR kits.
She said that the Mahabubad district recorded only 28% deliveries in government sector, Peddapalli district saw 32% and Bhupalapalli witnessed 57% deliveries in government hospitals. While instructing the district medical and health officials to increase the deliveries, she also pointed out how doctors and the nurses in the PHCs were not attending to their duties properly. She called for a firm action against the errant staff.She also said that the State government had allocated Rs. 1200 crore to provide basic amenities in the government hospitals in the State. With the onset of monsoons, she asked officials to take all measures for proper sanitation.
Medical and health commissioner Vakati Karuna, Peddaplli Collector A. Sri Devasena, Mahabubnagar Collector Ch Shiva Lingaiah, Kothagudem Joint Collector M Ramkishan were present.
