The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Tuesday quashed the detention of two people under Goondas Act IN connection with the Kachanatham caste violence in Sivaganga district. Three Dalits were murdered by caste Hindus in the incident.
A division bench of Justices C.T. Selvam and A.M. Basheer Ahamed quashed the detention of Arun Pandi and Mukilan under the Goondas Act as it was invoked more than a month after they were detained.
They are currently lodged in Madurai Central Prison.
At least 13 people were arrested by Sivaganga police in connection with the murder of the three Dalits at Kachanatham village, following a clash over offereing temple honours between two groups of people.
