The police on Monday registered a case after a group of people belonging to the Dalit community alleged that they faced caste discrimination at a flood relief camp in Pallippad panchayat here.
The Haripad police said that the case was registered under various sections of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against 20 people who could be identified.
Earlier 56 members of the community, belonging to 23 families, registered a complaint with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and District Collector S. Suhas, stating that members of the Christian community had humiliated them at a relief camp at Anjilimoodu L.P. School. Mr. Suhas had ordered a probe into the complaint.
