FPS dealers call off strike

Fair price shop dealers on Tuesday called off the ongoing indefinite strike after the government said that it would look into their demands.

During a meeting with Civil Supplies Minister Eatala Rajender and other officials, dealers put forward their concerns, including arrears the government has to pay to them. They were assured that their grievances would be conveyed to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

While the Civil Supplies Department had threatened to revoke permits if dealers failed to make payments for essential commodities through DDs, the latter have sought four days to comply. They also assured the government that supply of essential commodities would not be interrupted.
