Forest Minister Dindigul C. Sreenivasan on Monday informed the Assembly that the government has decided to enforce Section 4 (A) of the Tamil Nadu Preservation of Private Forests Act, 1949, from July 9. The provision allows the purchase of lands situated close to the protected forest areas. “This legislation enables those who had purchased land in areas that have been declared as private forests to retain their rights over the land,” he said.
