A 36-year-old history-sheeter died on the way to hospital after he was brutally attacked by a gang in Tiruvanmiyur late on Wednesday.
Dhanasekaran, 36, was a resident of Siruthavur for the past five years. Police said that while he was living in Kallukuttai, near Perungudi, he brutally murdered Madhan in 2013 for harassing his wife. He also had a few other cases of attempt to murder and assault.
On Wednesday evening, Dhanasekaran, accompanied by a friend, was proceeding on his bike from the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Adyar. where he had gone to sign papers relating to previous cases.
While riding on Avvai Nagar Road in Tiruvanmiyur around 9 p.m, a duo on another bike chased and blocked them.
Dhanasekaran fell off his motorcycle. The duo attacked him with knives, triggering panic among passers-by and residents of the area. His friend managed to escape.
The police rushed Dhanasekaran to the Government Royapettah Hospital but he died on the way.
The police traced the accused and on Thursday arrested Raja alias Raise Raja, 29, Bharathi, 30, and Vellai Shankar, 29.
