A public interest writ petition was filed on Monday in the Kerala High Court seeking to prohibit political activities on all schools and college campuses in the State in the backdrop of the murder of an SFI student in the Ernakulam Maharaja’s college.
The petition was filed by Ajoy L.S. of Chengannur. According to him, the cause for the murder of the SFI student in the Maharaja’s college was the failure on the the part of the State government and the college authorities to regulate or prohibit the students politics. If effective steps were not taken now, there was every chance of repetition of similar incidents. He said that despite the HC directive to frame regulations on controlling the students politics in 2004, the government was yet to implement it.
