Rain continued in Sigur plateau, and the Rivers Sigurhalla and Moyar are in spate.
Meanwhile, an overloaded lorry that was proceeding to Sathyamangalam fell on its side at the 12th hairpin bend on Coonoor – Mettupalayam Road on Friday morning. Both the driver and the cleaner of the lorry escaped unhurt. However, police and staff from the National Highways Authority of India had a difficult task in removing the vehicle and clearing the traffic that was held up for almost two hours.
Police enforced road diversions, forcing motorists from Mettupalayam proceeding towards Coonoor and Udhagamandalam to take Kotagiri Road to reach their destinations. Motorists from Coonoor proceeding to Mettupalayam were also rerouted via Kotagiri Road.
