The homemaker who has been allegedly sexually harassed by four clergymen of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church deposed before the Judicial First Class Magistrate at Thiruvalla on Tuesday afternoon.
A team of the Crime Branch filed the First Information Report before the court, along with an application seeking facility for in-camera deposition by the victim.
The Crime Branch team held a meeting at the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police at Thiruvalla in the forenoon.
Meanwhile, the investigation team was expanded including Superintendent of Police Merrin Joseph.
The Crime Branch team also approached the homemaker’s husband for obtaining more statements.
The victim was subjected to medical examination in the afternoon, before she was taken to the magistrate’s court for in-camera deposition.
The Crime Branch has registered a case on the basis of the statements given by the homemaker. The arrest of the four priests facing sexual abuse charges is expected soon, police sources said.
