Following heavy rain in the catchment, inflow into Bhavani Sagar Reservoir increased from 8,729 cusecs on Wednesday morning to 15,778 cusecs in the evening.
According to Public Works Department officials, at 4 p.m. the water level stood at 81.90 feet against its full reservoir level of 105 feet, and the storage was 16.700 tmc as against the storage capacity of 32.800 tmc in the morning.
They added that due to heavy rain in catchment and water release from Pilloor dam in Coimbatore, inflow increased over the day. People living along River Bhavani were warned not to venture into the river.
