More infrastructure for villages near Sterlite plant

Thoothukudi Collector Sandeep Nanduri interacted with residents of villages in the vicinity of the Sterlite plant at Pudhiamputhur on Tuesday.

Residents of Kumarettiyapuram, Pudhiamputhur, Saminatham, South Veerapandiyapuram, Jambulingapuram and Sillanatham participated in the session, which was held at a marriage hall in the area.

He said that a committee under his purview, including the Revenue Divisional Officer(RDO), Project Director of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), officials from the Animal Husbandry Department and doctors, have been directly interacting with the people in the villages to understand their problems.

Based on their interaction, Mr. Nanduri said that project reports for laying roads, canals, water pipelines and desilting of rivers have been drawn up. He said that as various departments have enough funds, the projects would be completed soon.

He also inspected a nearby anganwadi centre and repair work being done for restoring a pipeline damaged by the construction of a bridge near Sillanatham.

Project Director of DRDA Dhanapathi and Kovilpatti RDO J. Vijaya were present.
