Jewellery, cash stolen from temple

Burglars broke into the office of Sree Ganapathy Temple at Kattilangadi, near Tanur, on Saturday and stole gold jewellery and cash of Rs. 2.75 lakh. The police said the burglars gained entry into the temple office by breaking open the door. The jewellery kept in a shelf was stolen. Temple officials said the stolen jewellery included gold chain, rings and bangles received by way of offerings from people. The burglars also destroyed the temple cash box and stole the money deposited by devotees. The Police have registered a case and an investigation is on.
