Man ends life, blames wife and in-laws in selfie video

Mora Guruva Reddy, 27, who went missing after a dispute with wife and in-laws, was found dead on a railway track in the Krishnalanka area on Tuesday. The police also found a selfie video conveying his last message to family members in his mobile phone before committing suicide.

According to police, the victim running a lodge along with his father married his girlfriend Gayatri in 2013 and had been together since then. “Of late Mr. Reddy felt that he was being neglected by his wife who works in Hyderabad and began spying on her using mobile phone apps. He realised that Ms. Gayatri had an affair and raised the issue with her parents in the city citing proofs of chats on her phone,” a police official said.

The Krishnalanka police said following heated arguments with Mr. Reddy, Ms. Gayatri along with her parents and brother attempted suicide on June 30.

Based on the complaint by Ms. Gayatri, her husband was summoned to the Krishnalanka police station and interrogated. He told the police about his wife’s alleged affair and even showed the contents he accessed, the police said.

While the police were about to book domestic violence case against Mr. Reddy considering Ms. Gayatri’s statement, his relatives lodged a missing person complaint, ACP K. Srinivas said.

The Government Railway Police booked a case of death under suspicious circumstances under Section 174 of CrPc.

“Once the case is transferred to L&O police by the GRP, a case of abetment of suicide will be booked against the victim’s wife and in-laws after further investigation,” Mr. Srinivas said.

Mr. Reddy in the selfie video apologised to his father and wife and said he loved her the most. “You and your family changed the situation overnight and made me go to the police station,” he said blaming her and the in-laws for his death.
