Minister of State for Finance and Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan has promised to ask the Air India management to give up plan to withdraw its Chennai-Madurai leg of Mumbai-Chennai-Madurai flight connectivity. Responding to a memorandum of Travel Club, he said he would talk to officials. The Club said the move to withdraw the service would serve interests of private airliners. “On declaring Madurai airport as a port of call for Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Dubai and Sharjah, he assured to take it up with the Minister of Civil Aviation,” the club’s connectivity committee chair N. Sriram said.
