A Statewide mobile awareness campaign against communicable diseases with the slogan ‘Prathidinam Prathirodham’ (Daily resistance) got off to a start here on Monday.
The awareness campaign against monsoon-related diseases is being organised by the Gradiaso Event Management in association with the National Health Mission.
Minister for Health K.K. Shylaja inaugurated the campaign.
She called for concerted effort to fight communicable diseases.
Waste management was the responsibility of each individual. Only by checking the proliferation of mosquitoes inside and outside houses could these diseased be controlled, she said.
Two vehicles are involved in the campaign, which aims at making the public, particularly students, aware of the need to take care of one’s health and of the surroundings not only during the rains but throughout the year.
The campaign team will travel the length of the State in 14 days.
One-day programmes will be held in each district. Health awareness programmes will being held in urban areas.
Awareness classes, messages, video presentations will also be held.
