Nursery school for children of policemen inaugurated

Belagavi Police Commissionerate has started a nursery school for the children of police personnel.

Police Commissioner D.C. Rajappa inaugurated the school in Belagavi on Thursday. An unused residential quarters building in the police headquarters has been converted into a nursery school. The department has collected donations from private industries for starting the nursery.

Dr. Rajappa said that the idea struck him when he faced requests from several policemen for recommendation letters to admit their children in nursery schools in the city. He hoped to start a primary school for these children in the coming years.

The school admits children aged between three and five. As many as 22 personnel have admitted their wards in the school. The fee is around Rs. 7,000, a policeman said. Belagavi-based Aequs Global Manufacturing Company has donated funds for the project. Superintendent of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy, Belagavi Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer R. Ramachandran and others were present.
