Periyar University signs MoU with Curtin University, Malaysia

Periyar University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Curtin University, Malaysia, recently to promote research, and faculty/student exchange programmes.

As part of the MoU, students from both the universities can seek each other’s assistance for specific training, coursework, and acquiring skills in handling sophisticated research equipment, and lab protocols.

In addition, joint research guidance for masters and Ph.D. students, joint seminars, submission of joint application for research grants from International agencies will be taken up for mutual benefit of the students and faculty members of the respective universities.

Efforts will be taken to raise the collaboration to recognise the courses being conducted by each other, so that the students can spend one or two semesters in either of the universities.

Curtin University, Malaysia, is one of the renowned institutions of higher learning and research, ranking among top 250 Universities of the world.

R. Nagarajan, Associate Dean (Research and Development), Curtin University, and V. Krishnakumar, Dean, Faculty of Science, Periyar University, represented their respective universities and signed the MoU in the presence of P. Kolandaivel, Vice-Chancellor, Periyar University.

Prof. Nagarajan, Curtin University and Mu. Ramkumar of Department of Geology of Periyar University, are assigned as the nodal persons to represent and execute the MoU with reference to each other’s University.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kolandaivel, said that special impetus has been given to expand the academic and research standing of Periyar University in national and international ranking.
