Railway employee ‘stabbed to death’ by brother-in-law

A 28-year-old railway employee, who was undergoing training at the railway training institute on BRTS Road at Satyanarayanapuram, was stabbed to death allegedly by his brother-in-law who is also a railway employee.

The incident took place a few hours after the visit of South Central Railway General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav to a nearby railway institute on Monday.

According to the police, Chadalavada Raju, a railway gateman in Rajahmahendravaram, who was here for training, met his brother-in-law Khandelli Sekhar on the premises of the institute in the evening.

Following a heated argument, Sekhar, a Grade I railway employee in the city, pulled out a knife and stabbed Raju multiple times before fleeing on his motorcycle.

Men at the institute noticed Raju lying in a pool of blood and rushed him to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.

Police said Sekhar is the husband of Raju’s elder sister Jyotsna who gave birth to a baby girl three months ago.

As Sekhar resorted to harassing Jyotsna and family, the latter, who was pregnant, moved to parents’ place several months ago. Since then he he had been forcing the wife to come home, and met Raju to discuss the matter,” a police official said.

Before killing Raju, Sekhar threatened to finish off Jyostna and her parents. Following the murder, police arranged security for Jyotsna and her family members. Teams have been formed to nab Sekhar. Raju is survived by wife and parents.
