Manikanda Arumugam, a Travelling Ticket Inspector in the Southern Railway, who brought laurels to the Tiruchi division by winning a gold medal in the 58th National inter-State athletics championship held at Guwahati recently, was felicitated by the senior officials here on Wednesday.
Mr. Arumugam was a member of the Tamil Nadu 4×100 meter men’s relay team that won the gold medal in the meet.
The relay team also set a new meet timing clocking 40.22s, eclipsing the previous record of 40.49s set by Kerala team in 2013.
P. Uday Kumar Reddy, Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, felicitated Mr. Arumugam and wished him a great career ahead in sports.
