‘Ready for any sacrifice to get DMK into power’

MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Sunday urged party cadre to desist from trolling the DMK and its working president M.K. Stalin. Mr. Vaiko said he and his party members were “ready for any sacrifice” to see to it that the DMK came to power in Tamil Nadu.

In a statement, the MDMK leader, who is currently in Malaysia on a personal visit, said, “The trolls are actually causing great damage to the MDMK. Those who refuse to accede to my request will not be considered as part of the MDMK.”

When asked what had prompted him to issue such a strongly-worded statement, Mr. Vaiko told
The Hindu
over phone that there was a well-orchestrated campaign by some vested interests on the internet to undermine the relationship between the DMK and the MDMK.

“Some persons, claiming to be MDMK cadre, have trolled the DMK and Mr. Stalin. They say the DMK and its leaders have boasted that they could win the election on their own, without [forming] any alliance. But I have not come across any such claim by the DMK leaders since I came to Penang,” he said.

Reiterating that the bond between the DMK and the MDMK – an offshoot of the Dravidian party — was getting stronger, Mr. Vaiko alleged that the trolling campaign was part of a conspiracy to undermine the relationship and fraternal feeling between the two parties. “We have to protect the Dravidian movement which, at present, is being spearheaded by the DMK,” he said.
