‘Recruitment going on transparently’

M.S. Subhas, Vice-Chancellor of Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University, while dismissing reports appearing in a section of press with regard to ongoing recruitments for teaching posts, categorically said that it (recruitment) was going on transparently.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Subhas accused Dodda Basavanagouda, sitting member of the syndicate, and some former members of the academic council of trying to tarnish the image of the university and also block the ongoing recruitment process by carrying out a misinformation campaign and misleading the media.

The eligibility list was announced prior to the last day of receiving applications, relatives of Vice-Chancellor and Registrar (Administration) were also among the candidates who wrote entrance exams were among other charges that was reported in the media.

In addition, Honnusiddartha, Registrar (Evaluation), had also written to the Governor and Chancellor of the University alleging that the recruitment process was not in accordance with the law and that he (Registrar evaluation) was kept away from conducting the entrance exam.

“The recruitment process was going on as per the provisions of the laws and in a most transparent way. The university had called for applications from Hyderabad-Karnatak candidates to fill up of 89 posts, 44 posts of Assistant Professors, 28 Associate Professors and 17 Professors. We had given advertisements for filling the posts four times since 2016. We had prepared the eligible list of all the candidates who had applied earlier and announced and not of candidate who had applied fresh in response to the fourth advertisement was declared eligible before June 30,” he said.

With regard to his relative and son of Registrar (Administration) taking the exam, Mr. Subhas sought to know whether they should be barred because they were relatives. “Moreover, as per the norms, both of us had already informed the Chancellor about it and assuring that we would not be part of the recruitment process for the concerned subjects.”
