Residents of villages in Sadashivapet mandal have opposed the proposed expansion of a bulk drug saying they were not ready to face more pollution that would be generated by the expansion of the unit.
Public hearing on proposed expansion of Everest Organics was held at Aroor village in Sadashivapet mandal on Tuesday with Joint Collector Nikhila Reddy presiding over it.
Residents, company representatives and representatives of different organisations and officials of Pollution Control Board participated in the hearing. Many of the residents said that they were facing serious pollution problem due to the chemical industries and bulk drug industries and they were not keen on the expansion of the units. Some 60 persons registered their opinion at the public hearing.
The officials said that the recorded version of the public hearing will be sent to higher officials for their perusal. Heavy police force was mobilised to see that no untoward incident took place.
