The State government has taken up dam safety and rehabilitation with an eye on the security of the people of the State, M.M. Mani, Minister for Power, has said.
Inaugurating the newly-built headquarters of the Dam Safety Organisation near here on Thursday, Mr. Mani said ensuring the safety of ageing dams was a priority. It was with this aim that the State had joined the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project which envisioned to improve the safety and operational performance of selected dams.
Consensus
The Minister stressed the need for evolving consensus among all political parties and concerted efforts from all stakeholders, irrespective of political hues, for the successful completion of the ongoing works and also for taking up new projects.
Currently nearly 20 projects were under different stages of completion, he said.
