SCCL’s bid to improve internal communication

In an effort to improve internal communication at all levels within the organisation for increasing productivity, the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is set to hold a series of interactive sessions in its 19 Opencast Projects (OCPs), 29 underground mines, all workshops, coal handling plants and other departments of the company spread in the entire coal belt from Monday.

Multi-departmental teams have already been constituted to take up the mega exercise to elicit feedback from the workforce on enhancing employee engagement to achieve the ambitious coal production targets and propel the company on the path of accelerated growth, SCCL sources said.

The company management had earlier initiated a slew of measures to improve safety precautions, health services, replacing the old machinery with new ones, and quality of food items served in the canteens, among others, as per the suggestions made by the employees in a similar exercise implemented in the past.

The company Chairman and Managing Director N. Sridhar has reportedly issued instructions to hold the internal communication exercise at all levels in the company once in a year so as to promote organisational growth and employees’ welfare, sources added.

The company has brought out thought-provoking posters to elicit the views of coal workers and other cadre of employees on overcoming practical difficulties, if any, in the pursuit of coal production targets, coal mine-wise, in all the 11 areas of the company spread across six districts.

The communication wing of the company has already circulated the posters to all the 11 areas of the company as a prelude to the mega internal communication exercise slated to begin on Monday.

It is proposed to hold over 250 meetings involving all the 54,000 Singarenians across the coal belt in the next couple of days.
