As a part of their efforts to secure top rankings in ‘Swachh Survekshan – 2019,’ the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) will be using the services of ‘Swachh Mitras’ to spread awareness on waste segregation i.e., dry and wet waste, among denizens of the temple city.
According to MCT Commissioner V. Vijay Rama Raju, the designated ‘Swachh Mitras’ will accompany sanitation workers during waste collection in every ward of Tirupati, and educate people about the ongoing waste segregation in the municipality.
The ‘Swachh Mitras’ will spread the message on waste segregation among the large and small business establishments, schools and colleges, residences, hospitals, hotels (including the roadside eateries), in every ward of Tirupati, besides registering the response of five individuals as part of their daily campaign,” he added. Mr. Raju said that successful implementation of the campaign would encourage door-to-door collection and also waste segregation.
