The Communist Party of India State council has criticised the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government for not fulfilling its promise of providing housing to eligible poor.
The CPI lamented that though the government had issued orders reiterating its promise of providing housing to all from time to time, no action had been initiated so far. The CPI has decided to organise dharnas in front of all Tahsil offices on July 23 and 24 demanding the government steps to expeditiously complete the two-bedroom houses promised to the poor. Party State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy released a poster and pamphlet related to the proposed dharna at the party office here on Wednesday. He cited the instance of Sarladevi Nagar near Santosh Nagar in the city where Deputy Chief Minister Mohd. Mahmood Ali laid the foundation for two bedroom houses on December 25, 2015 amid much fanfare. The government was yet to commence work on the proposed site almost three years after the foundation was laid, he said.
“The government is hoodwinking the people in the name of two-bedroom houses for past three years, but nothing concrete can be seen on the ground,” he added. The same was the case with the 2014 promise of providing house sites to the poor, he said.
