Two arrested in HSIIDC officer murder case

Two residents of Manesar village were arrested on Thursday here in connection with the murder of a Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) land records officer two days ago.

The two had allegedly hired contract killers for the job to force the HSIIDC to abandon the survey of the land for “deemed” possession.

The accused have been identified as Abhimanyu alias Mannu and Rameshwar alias Bhand.

Encroached land

The police said that the HSIIDC officials had ploughed the land illegally encroached upon by the two accused during the ongoing survey. The two then hatched a conspiracy to eliminate him by hired contractors.

Gurugram Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said the accused did not target any particular HSIIDC official, but wanted to eliminate any senior official to force the corporation to abandon the survey.

HSIIDC patwari Ishwar had gone for the survey of the land along with a team of around half-a-dozen staff on Tuesday, when three youth on a motorcycle shot him point-blank.

Ishwar, who was inside an official vehicle, was shot in the head and stomach. He was declared dead at a hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, Vijender, was also shot at and sustained injuries. He is still undergoing treatment.

The police said that a special investigation team was constituted under Assistant Commissioner of Police (Manesar) Dharambir Singh for investigating into the matter and efforts were on to arrest all the accused.
