Verbal duel over delay in work on complexes

There was a verbal duel between the City Municipal Council (CMC) Commissioner, Chandrappa, and council members over the alleged delay in completing work on commercial complexes in Gandhi Circle and Santhe Honda areas in Chitradurga town, here on Wednesday.

As soon as the City Municipal Council general body meeting began, the former president of the CMC, B. Kantraj, said that the construction of commercial complexes at the two places was started about two years ago. But the work has not seen any considerable progress owing to the negligent attitude of the officers concerned, he said.

He demanded that the officers concerned should sort out all issues related to the construction of these complexes and complete the work at the earliest.

Responding to the issue, Mr. Chandrappa said that there were some technical reasons for the delay in the project and they have been sorted out. The officers concerned have been instructed to complete the work at the earliest.

Another member Manjunath Goppe said that the wages of valve men in the council are pending for eight months and the authorities concerned should take immediate steps to release wages of these personnel.

In response, the CMC Commissioner promised that steps would be taken to release the wages of these valve men in the next few days. Shymala Shivaprasad, Bhimraj Chaya, Mahesh and Thimmakka were present.
