The accused, identified as Bijalee (35), had been hiding and to evade arrest since a long time.

The police said that the Crime Branch received a tip-off that a Bijalee, wanted in cases like kidnapping, grievous hurt, attempt to murder, would be coming near the Loni-Delhi border to meet his accomplice. “A team was formed under the supervision of ACP Sandeep Lamba. A trap was laid at UP-Delhi border and the accused was successfully apprehended,” said a police officer. He is a member of Guru Pushpa Kinnar group and was active in Swaroop Nagar, Bhalswa Dairy, Khajoori Khas, etc., said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Kumar.

In one of the FIRs against him, the victim had alleged that he was kidnapped and castrated by Bijalee and his associates. In another, the complainant had levelled charges of kidnapping, assault, theft, etc. against Bijalee, said Mr. Kumar.

Lured nomads

“He used to lure nomads and castrate them. He did it to develop his own gang of transgenders. He deployed them at traffic signals and other places to generate money,” added the police officer.

Bijalee and his associates had been hiding in Sharad City, near Sabhapur Police Chowki in Loni, Ghaziabad.
